TDLR TABS project search, done for you every week

We read TDLR's TABS registry every week and send you the public building projects within 75 miles of your office, with the design firm on each and a link to its TABS record.

Texas only. Everything within 75 miles of your office. No account needed.

Statewide, the last 4 weeks ( to ): 102 public building projects of $250,000 or more were registered on TABS, and 88 of them named a design firm.

What TABS is

TABS is the Texas Architectural Barriers System. In TDLR's words, "TABS is the online system used to register construction projects with TDLR." It exists for the state's accessibility law, and TDLR's fact sheet sets out who has to register:

"Projects with total estimated costs of $50,000 or more must be registered with TDLR. A full set of construction documents must be submitted to a Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS) for review in accordance with Texas Administrative Code Rule 68.50."

TDLR, EAB At a Glance (PDF)

Smaller projects don't have to register: below $50,000 a project "is not required to (but may)" be submitted, and a local building official may still require it (same fact sheet).

What a TABS record shows, and what it doesn't

Each project page lists the project name, location and county, estimated cost, type of work, type of funds, current status, owner name and design firm name. For example, TABS2027004959.

What a record doesn't tell you:

  • It isn't a contract award or a selection date. TABS records a registration, not how or when the owner chose the design firm.
  • "Design Firm" isn't always an architect. It can be an engineer (TABS2026024265 names Moy Tarin Ramirez (MTR) Engineers), a landscape architect (TABS2027003981 names Studio Outside) or a design-builder (TABS2023000423 names Bear Design Build).
  • The estimated cost is what the filer typed. TABS2027005096, "Andrews Elementary School", lists $2,000,000,000 for a scope of "Flooring, Restroom Renovation and Fire Alarm Replacement". We withhold costs like that.
  • Owner names are free text. TABS2027004959 lists its owner as "COPPEL I S D", and TABS2027005068 as "Adine ISD". A bank and a school district can share a name: Karnes County National Bank registered "KCNB - Beeville Branch Building" (TABS2026012277), and Karnes City ISD registers its school work (TABS2024017772).

bondpassed

  • Only public building projects: public funds, an owner we recognize as public, an estimated cost entered on TABS of $250,000 or more, not civil or site work, not finished.
  • Owner typos fixed and shown openly: Coppell ISD (filed on TABS as "COPPEL I S D").
  • Only what's within 75 miles of your office, with the distance on each line.
  • The design firm as filed, plus "registered with TBAE to offer architecture (BR-x)" when the TBAE roster and its search confirm it.
  • The school, city and county bonds on the ballot near you, and the design firms on an owner's earlier TABS projects for the districts whose history we've read so far.
  • Every Monday by email, plus a web view and a CSV.

Questions

What is TDLR TABS?

TABS is the Texas Architectural Barriers System: the online system used to register construction projects with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) for accessibility review. TDLR says: "Projects with total estimated costs of $50,000 or more must be registered with TDLR."

Is the TABS project search free?

Yes. TDLR's TABS search and each project page are public, with no login. bondpassed reads the same records, keeps the public building projects within 75 miles of your office, and sends them to you every Monday with a link to each TABS record.

How often does bondpassed read TABS?

Weekly. TABS's public search is live; we read it weekly, and your list arrives every Monday. This week's records are listed through Nov 6, 2026.

Does the design firm on a TABS record mean the owner hired an architect?

Not always. The TABS "Design Firm" can be an engineer, a landscape architect or a design-builder. We say "registered with TBAE to offer architecture" only when the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners' own search ticks Architect.

Which TABS projects does bondpassed include?

Registrations that involve public funds, by an owner we recognize as public (a school district, city, county, special district, college or state agency), with an estimated cost entered on TABS of $250,000 or more, not read as civil or site work, and not finished. A program filed once per campus counts as one project.

Is bondpassed part of TDLR?

No. bondpassed is not affiliated with or endorsed by the State of Texas, TDLR, the Texas Bond Review Board or TBAE. We read their public records and link to each one.
